The whole purpose of this blog was to give a fair and hopefully helpful opinion on all low, mid and high-end products. To be able to give you all the information you need to storm through those high streets to find the next must-have item for your beauty collection. So you can only imagine my delight as I was scrolling through Pinterest the other day and low and behold my eyes saw pure pleasure! A chocolate/makeup hybrid. On closer inspection, it revealed this was not a treat that would make my tummy happy but certainly ticked all the boxes to fulfil my childhood makeup dreams. This is the beautifully stunning I Heart Revolution Chocolate Eyeshadow Palette collection.
Basically, I was sold from one picture. That picture right up there and I knew instantly I needed to tell you all about it. With nothing but the picture to go on, I needed to do a little bit of research. I was surprised when I found out it was part of the Revolution brand, I have dabbled a little bit in the past but never tried any of their eyeshadows. The hardest decision I had to make was which of the 18 different chocolate palettes to choose from. In the end and after swapping things in my basket for a good half an hour I was left with, Death By Chocolate, Pink Fizz, White Chocolate and Peaches and Cream. They were all available to collect the next day at my local Superdrug store! Thank god as waiting isn’t my strong point!!!
So here they were! With nothing to go on but my love for the case, I had them in my hands ready to play. Each full-size palette has a combination of 16 matte and shimmer shades to choose from with a handy little mirror in the lid. Another important thing to mention is that all of these are VEGAN, CRUELTY-FREE and GLUTEN FREE!
I wasn’t really expecting much from the colours with the price being so competitive but I really was blown away by the quality, the colours are a lot more pigmented than I expected them to be. I will admit the pigment quality is slightly different on some of the shades, but overall no matter whether you go for a matte or a shimmer they blend very well, to create some lovely day and night looks. You definitely don’t need to be a makeup artist to achieve beautiful looks.
There was very little fallout from these shadows so you’re safe to get your foundation on first. I did, however, use my own eyeshadow brush set rather than the brush that came with it as I found they gave me better results. The palettes are all supposed to have a chocolate scent to them, this wasn’t very apparent to me, however, this doesn’t really bother me as I’m not smelling my eyelids anyway.
The biggest test for me though is would the colour last all day? A pet peeve of mine is when eyeshadow creases and you get that horrible line stuck on your eyelid. So I thought I best put it to the test, had a nice power walk to work and rushed around all day. I refrained from looking in the mirror all day to refrain from touching up. Got home cooked tea, popped Tilly in the bath and had a little look in the mirror and was very happily surprised that my eyeshadow looked virtually the same as it did this morning, the colour had only slightly faded and there was no creasing! Hurrah!!
Overall I would highly recommend this product, for the price it is fantastic as a treat for yourself or a lovely gift. I am now a little bit obsessed with these palettes and before long I shall own the entire collection. Extremely good value for money, and if it is death by chocolate I am okay with that.
They look amazing!!
