I thought as a little monthly treat I’d share my growing Birchbox addiction with you all. This is only my 2nd box but oh boy its a goodie. As I am a little bit of a beauty hoarder this is perfect for my ever-growing collection. For only £10 plus postage a month you get 5 little beauty treats a mixture of miniature and full size. To celebrate Birchbox’s 5th anniversary in the UK you get a special keepsake biscuit tin. Fully channelling the British tea party. A little Birchbox benefit that’s worth mentioning is you get 10% off the full-sized versions of whatever is in your box and then when you’ve been a member for 6 months that goes up to 15% well worth having if want to treat yourself. So with no more delay, these were my super sweet June treats:
Benefit POREfessional Pear Primer: This fresh little formula has all the same features as the original POREfessional primer with some added benefits. It’s a lovely oil-free texture that leaves my skin with the perfect base for foundation sometimes I find with other oil-based primers they can leave my skin feeling a little greasy so I’m pleased there was none of that, in fact, it left my face feeling very smooth and hydrated. The pearl primer has a dose of pink pigment added in so I found that really brightened my face, you can also layer it up a little if you want more of a radiant glow. All you really need is pearl-sized amount to cover your face so a little really does go a long way with this product. You can also purchase in a mini and regular sizing so if you wanted to give this primer a try you don’t have to fork out £27.50 for the full size as the mini is £10.50. Overall I was very happy with this tester and when my primers run out this will definitely be going in my basket!
Number 4 – Jour d’automne smoothing balm: Hands up who spends lots of time and money on skincare but when it comes to hair the care may fall a little short. If time is the issue then this product can really help as it really is the equivalent of a hair mask for those who may be a little pressed for time. Apply a small amount to damp hair then style as normal you will find you have less frizz, extremely baby soft hair and tresses that are protected again humidity and heat damage. It really has made my hair feel especially smooth and protected and actually made styling a lot easier as the amount of frizz I normally have to deal with was sufficiently reduced. The full-size product I personally think is a little pricey but the quality and ease of use definitely out-weigh the cost for me. 5 Stars for this little hair wonder.
Ella Eden Compact Eyeshadow (Julia): I must admit this month I was a little disappointed there was only 1 proper makeup product in my box however when I actually didn’t realise how versatile this gorgeous shade was. This pressed mineral eyeshadow is highly pigmented and is certainly not time-consuming. Can be used on its own for an everyday glow or used as a base to build up a more striking eye look. I’ve used it here as a base with a darker pink to create more depth. Also, you can apply with a wet brush to make a bolder statement. There is such a lovely shimmer to this shade I would also be tempted to use as a blush or highlight. Ella Eden is also a cruelty-free brand so I’ll definitely be looking what other products they have on offer in the future.
Polaar Velvety Sun Fluid Face & Body SPF30: I didn’t know when I’d get the chance to test this product out as for all we know summer could have disappeared already! Fortunately, though this past week I’ve actually had a chance to get some skin out. I don’t know about you but I’m terrible at remembering to use sunscreen but this time I was fully prepared. Having never used this brand before I was expecting anything different from the many sun lotions I’ve tried in the past, fortunately, I was pleasantly surprised. There was no white residue left behind, my arms didn’t feel sticky, (p.s I wasn’t quite brave enough to get the legs out!) and it sank into my skin very quickly so I was immediately protected from those UV rays. The best part is the product is a multitasker as it offers UVA and UVB protection so it fights both sunburn and premature ageing. Both of which are huge plus points for me. The blend of sunflower oils and soybean give you silky soft skin to top off this happy experience.
Amika Bombshell Blowout Spray: What’s nice about this multitasking spritz is that you can use of both damp and dry hair. Best of both worlds! Use on damp hair to protect, smooth and nourish your hair, gives me visibly tamer hair and then when it’s dry it’s also great to use as heat protection. If you want to have a little re-style this does give a light hold. Overall this is a great all-rounder spray that could take the place of at least four products in your hair collection. Very good if you’re trying to save on space or like a jack of all trades.
Whittard Of Chelsea Teabags: Also a little bonus this month as no tea party is complete without a good cuppa 3 delicious blends of tea to try. Mango & Bergamot, Earl Grey and Lemon & Ginger. Yum Yum.
