Live A Life Beautiful

Hello everyone! Welcome to my August Birchbox review, this month Birchbox has teamed up with ten amazing Etsy sellers to create their own stunning box designs. Each one represents each seller’s individuality and passions, my box was designed by The Fox In The Attic a seller that creates beautiful baby cushions, rattles and stationary. If you’ve got a little one on the way or are looking for a stunningly designed present for some little fingers I would highly recommend looking at her shop. I’m not even pregnant and I’ve already picked out and a handful of things I would love. Her box design is a lovely sweet treat for the eyes, I’m so pleased I got this one it’s such a pretty keepsake.  If you also got this months box to leave me a little comment and let me know who designed yours.

Whereas last month I was a little 50/50 on what I thought of the products I received this month I couldn’t be happier there are some crackers that have upped my skincare, made my hair silky smooth and shortened my makeup routine significantly. I’ll give you a little run through of what I got.

img_5846Luseta Beauty- Coconut Milk Hair Mask: Now the only bad thing I’ve got to say about this is that I wish it had been a bigger sample! I could literally bathe my hair in this every single day. Unfortunately, my hair is so thick it greedily sucked up the entire sample bottle. Safe to say I will definitely be saving up for the pot. Unfortunately, I am going to have to save up a little as the full-size version is £26 but I honestly think it’s completely worth it. This mask is designed to restore damaged, dry and colour treated hair. Which mine can sometimes be a little bit of each, it’s recommended to allow to soak into wet hair for 10 minutes then wash off, however, I was in a little bit of a rush so just left mine for about 5 and wasn’t sure if I would see much of a difference. The smell is absolutely divine but didn’t really feel any different to conditioner while it was actually on my hair, however, when it was washed off it left my hair feeling silky smooth and brand new. I may or may not have been walking down the street swishing my silky locks all around town. Definitely gets a 9/10 from me.

img_5848Dirty Little Secret – Eye Shadow Crayon (in Gold Plated or Fetch): Everyone gets one of these full-size eyeshadow crayons in their box this month and you get to pick which shade tickles your pickle.  We get to pick between ‘Gold Plated’ (my choice) a really creamy true gold colour or ‘Fetch’ (yes! It finally happened for Gretchen) a light pink with peachy undertones. These both have several uses; works as a base for powder shadows, or draw directly onto your lids and blend for a stand-alone everyday colour or as an easily blendable highlighter. So far I’ve used mine every day for work as the pencil is so easy and quick to use and just gives a lovely subtle shade that’s professional but pretty. These pencils are perfect if you aren’t a massive eyeshadow fan or don’t want to be playing around with several shades every morning. Literally just swipe on blend with your finger and go. I personally tend to use powder shadows as I find that creams can crease and if I use this pencil on its own there is a bit of creasing but when I put a lid primer underneath it stayed perfectly in place all day. This colour has been a nice change from the bright oranges I like to wear at the minute and the little effort I need to put in in the morning means I would give this product a 7/10 (would have been higher if there was no creasing.)

img_5847Dr.Botanicals – Pomegranate Superfood Regenerating Sleeping Mask: Now where do I even start with this little beauty. Unfortunately, my box arrived a little late this month and several of my friends who had already received theirs said I ‘NEEDED’ to try this mask and how much I would love it, and they were certainly not wrong. Firstly I love an overnight mask at the and I’m always looking for something else to soak into my skin while I catch up on some Zs. I’m hoping this little bottle will last me a while as you only need to spread a thin layer of this beautifully smelling treatment all over your skin before bed then let it sink in while you get some beauty sleep. It says you only need to use 2-3 times a week but the way my skin feels when I wake up makes me want to bathe in it every night. I go to bed pretty much looking like a mummy zombie and since using this wake up with rejuvenated and hydrated skin, fortunately looking more human than the night before. If like me you’re a little bit lazy when it comes to looking after your skin in the evening then this is perfect, you don’t have to set a time for a face mask and worry about when you need to take it off just whack it on and hit the hay. Solid 10/10 for this wonder, I’d really recommend this to anyone and when I run out for £14.90 I will 100% be getting some more.

img_5849ModelCo – Eye Define Crayon Liner: Now over the years I have used many many many eyeliners since I hit the ages of fifteen I’ve always been a big fan. Pencil, pen, dip and draw you name it I’ve pretty much tried them all. I must admit the crayon format has in the past been my least favourite I’ve always struggled to find a good formula that you don’t have to scrape across your lid with the force of a thousand rhinos. Enter in ModelCo a brand I’ve actually never heard of or tried before so I really didn’t know what to expect but I was hoping for something good as it had already been rated 4+ stars on Birchbox. I popped my eyeshadow on as normal and decided I wouldn’t be too adventurous and just line my top lid. Fingers crossed not too much could go wrong and I was very happy with the results. With very little pressure the twist-up pencil just glides on! Highly pigmented and with some great staying power I was really impressed with the liner. Since my first use, I’ve played a bit more and it also looks lovely along your waterline and blends really well for creating a smokey eye. 8/10 for this hassle-free liner.

img_5850Vita Liberta – Body Blur Instant Skin Finisher In Latte: If I’m completely honest there’s a reason this product is last in my review and that’s because I keep putting off trying it. I thought Birchbox was going to fail with this one. Anyone who knows me knows that the majority of the time my skin is rather ghostly and sometimes I worry I may even be a little transparent, so when I opened this months box and saw they had sent me the colour Latte (for medium to dark skin) I thought I might turn out a little Oompa Loompa! This product is designed to be an Instagram filter in a bottle. Blurring out any imperfections and can be used on your face and body. The formula is water-resistant so lasts all day but does come off in the shower with a good scrub. All you need to do is blend all over in circular motions….sounds simple enough and if the worst comes to the worst you can just wash it off. I tried a little on my legs first as I can easily hide those if I looked like I’d been tangoed, my legs are still a little tanned at the moment so the colour didn’t really change however it really wasn’t as dark as expected, I wasn’t really sure what to expect but I could tell the difference between my two shins the one with the Body Blur on had a very soft focus look and my skin colour was completely evened out. Now came time for my face (queue some anticipatory music)…. all I can say is thank god it washed off! To be fair it did what it said on the tin my face looked flawless, just flawless and overly tanned. I will be getting this though but perhaps in a lighter shade. This colour gets a 5/10 but when I get my correct shade I predict it will shoot up to a solid 9/10.

I think this might have been my favourite box so far product wise, with two products worth over £25 in each box it’s well worth it. I can’t wait for my next box already.
